Other uses of Karkar Oil
It is also used in a local sauna setting by Sudanese women called the Dukhan (scented smoke bath). Karkar oil is applied all over the skin before a woman sits on top of the smoking pit. The smoking pit is usually filled with burning wood. The woman is covered with a woollen blanket known as a shamla as she sits on the pit until the heat becomes unbearable. This helps in rejuvenating their skin.
